Overworking in School?

Many students today believe that they are being overworked. However, if you put in the hard work, it will pay off. I believe that teachers are free to work students however hard they please. If they think that putting in a certain amount of work will benifit the students, then it is necessary to give that amount of work. If a teacher were to give say 100 pages of notes per night, then this is way too much work. However, I've never seen anything close to this amount of work being given. I do not believe that students are being worked too hard.
