According to thesaurus, empathy is, "the phsycological identification with or vacarious experiencing of the feelings, thoughts, or attitudes of another." This basically means the ability to share somebody else's feelings or emotions. Consumer empathy is the ability to know what a consumer wants in a product and what they feel about products. In order to gain consumer empathy you must relate a product back to something that the common person can relate to and understands well. Once this takes place, a consumer is much more likely to purchase a product. For example, you could relate your product to daily struggles that take place every day. By seeing how the consumer responds, you could make a product that would better suit their needs. One way that many companies understand their consumers better is through making surveys. Through these surveys they see what their consumers can empathize for and then make a product based upon this baseline.
